DRev and other Updates

So after a month of writing my book for the NaNoWrMo I am done.  Really now researching how to publish it and the hurdles of being in Canada.   Still trying to come up with a better synopsis.  Nano Profile   Claimed some of their nice prizes, which are really just discounts on publishing stuff.  But that's okay.

Finally on the Gaming side comes our latest book the Dark Revelations Book of Progress on Dec 5.  Keep your eyes on Google Books and http://drevrpg.blogspot.ca/.   We promise we are looking at better aggregation for it.  While smaller than many of our other books, it is still jammed packed with tons of ways to play robots, cyborgs, and indeed mechanical teddy bears in our system!   I was very happy to contribute some major core ideas and some silly pictures as well.

A little small here, but this is a sneak peek of the cover, its one of my favorite works so far, though still a little tentative on the gears.

Can you figure out what the code is saying?

Also another sneak peek of sorts is Crafting!  Yep, we brought crafting back, sort of.  Instead of massive lists of tools and skill DCs, I looked at it two ways:  One use it like performance, something quick and easy at the table using the performance skill rules (which we did keep).   So I could have performance (Cobbler).  If Cha as modifier does not make sense, substitute something else, like Dex.   Example from the book is:  Sven makes a roll to gain a small amount of pocket money with performance (cobbler) with GM permission and says “hey look I found some dress shoes for sale in my pack that I made last week, awesome”.

The other slightly more complicated way is to do crafting as a montage!  here you set a DC just like any skill montage in DRev, pick some primary and secondary skills and have the whole party participate in it!  So much better than players busily doing crafting while everyone waits or adventures are going on.    This way you can simulate some always 1980's team building.

Sigh I'm not a MLP fan, but damn this is awesome and encapsulates what I want to happen in our game.   On youtube
