Furious Game Jam

I am so very sad I missed the boat on this firing-up-the-furious-game-jam
Silly real life Issues!

Imagine "Vinny" in the 1950's doing this

Despite being way too late to enter, maybe I can hack one the entries to do my original Idea, which would be Furious Fifties.

A retro future based in 195X, where the birth of hot rodding is mixed with numerous ideas of what those in the 50's thought was futuristic and our own rose tinted glasses view of the era.

Some Ideas rattling around are:

The idea of soviet spies and tech is everywhere.  Perhaps our rebel street racers are being groomed or fighting back against those commies and no one knows it!.

The Roswell incident could indeed be aliens that you might get tech from or get chased by in classic 1950's horror style; got to race to/from lovers lane to fight/flee from the creepy alien creature...which has a car. Or perhaps Roswell is a cover up for what was the most powerful hot rod test ever done and you just got find out what it is, or somehow ended up with the tech from the test and now have spooks after you.

The birth of the import rides and gangs from Asia 2-3 decades ahead of real world schedule.  195X Tongs, Triads, and Yakaza all bringing drifting two generations before the term was coined or thought of.

Putting Nitro in 50’s styles hot rods perhaps supplied by an evil dentist selling laughing gas for this purpose.  He's cornered the local market, and you need to break it.

Racers do have rotary style Car Phones (look them up kids!) but instead of modern social media information and race challenges is passed around using a mysterious answering service called “the operator”.

Anyhow without a base system and being too late, means I need to look some of the entries.

The first one that caught my eye was /the-fast-the-furious-and-the-feminist

Here’s my comment I placed on that blog:

this is interesting, not being a super big narrative rpg user, the rules are bit strange to me and how to use them. So die rolls as we play together? Treat Fast, Furious, Feminism, Feelings, and Flashbacks as story/combat phases I’m guessing. As for character questions some to came to mind was: “How mature are you (because I want to play an aging granny who was once a hot rod racer or Pam from Archer)”, “Do you fall in love easily” “What’s your relation with the gang leader” “How girly or manly is your ride” “how do you earn cash”

Warning Classic Pin Ups.
Now make her a top racer!
Honestly this subversively awesome, and if played the right way could completely reverse all the classic tropes.  Perhaps a group of all female characters compete to win the hot male as their prize (instead of the usual males winning a girl trope).

My character background/idea: “Genie first starting racing in 195X-196X, and is now a full great grandma.  She has kept this secret from her family for decades until she is forced out of retirement to race for release of her grandkids who have been taken hostage by the daughter of an old rival who blames Genie for (enter trope)”

The second one that perked my interest means I’ll have to find a copy of Night’s Black Agent first.  I sadly have not played this well renowned system.    The entry 2 Nights 2 Agents

Once I familiarize myself with the system, its pedigree means is most likely easy to flesh out and drop in my idea that the whole thing happens during the dawn of the hot rodding, FBI, and the red scare.  Perhapsthe FBI and KBG start street racing….for whatever reason!  Technology I’m guessing is not rules heavy in Night’s Black Agent, thus pretty easy to envision “high tech” mods to cars as something Q would have developed during the early Bond movies.
